As I was reviewing stocks hitting relative lows this week, I started to notice a pattern that I couldn’t ignore. Some of the most iconic brand names—companies that have defined industries for decades—were showing up on the list. Stocks like Disney, Nike, and Home Depot weren’t just weak; they were pressing into decade-plus relative lows. That alone was striking, but when I zoomed out even further, the magnitude really hit me.
Disney, for instance, is now sitting at a 40-year relative low.
Taking a big-picture perspective serves as a powerful reminder of a timeless Wall Street adage: good companies don’t always translate into good stocks.
